OfftheRails Dance is a Belfast based company, committed to creating daring and inspiring works that entertain, challenge and push the boundaries of dance as a theatrical form.
The company was formed in 2010 under the artistic direction of Eileen McClory. Since then the company has presented various short works and two evening length works ‘S(e)nsored’ 2011 and ‘The Dutiful Wife’ 2013, to high acclaim.
The company have received commissions from The Ulster Hall, The Crescent Arts Centre and Banjax Ltd. They have received support form the Joint Sectoral Dramaturgy Project (JSDP) in association with Tinderbox ltd .
They have been admired for their daring interdisciplinary projects. Experimenting with new computer technologies, visual arts and music and continue to create works that captivate the audience visually and emotionally.
Eileen's unique process of combining modern dance techniques and theatrical forms culminates in a distinctive choreographic style of physical and high energy performance.
Offtherails dancetheatre are currently supported by The Metropolitan Arts Centre (The MAC), Belfast through their 'HATCH' emerging artist program for 2014/15.
Eileen McClory is the Teaching Fellow and Course Director of the BA Dance Program at Ulster University.
As an established dance artist Eileen has worked with Theatre of Pluck, Replay, ponydance, PureDance Areial Company, Accidental Theatre, DU Dance and Bruiser Theatre Company (Ireland), Aya Saotome, Andres Grengias, Makiko Tamura/Small Apple Co, Bliss Dance Theatre, Slico Dance Company (USA). Eileen has performed in international festivals such as Bauhaus Summery (Germany) Christchurch Festival (NZ), Taranaki Arts Festival (NZ), Darwin Festival (AUS), Greenspace Festival (NYC), Belfast Festival at Queens, Feile An Phobail and Pick n Mix Festival, Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival and Outburst Arts (NI).
Eileen founded OfftheRails Dance in 2011, since then the company have produced two full length shows and were the MAC's HATCH artists 2014/15. Eileen has most recently returned from a month long Self Arranged Residency at Dansmakers, Amsterdam supported by the Arts Council Northern Ireland to research her new work 'The GAME Show: A Triptych ' to be produced in 2018.
Eileen graduated from Liverpool John Moore’s University with a BA (hons) Dance Studies. She furthered her training at New York’s Dance New Amsterdam completing 2 year Professional Training program and a 'Steele Advanced Pilates Mat/Props' Certificate through Pilates Method Alliance New York.
Eileen is currently completing her MA in Contemporary Performance Practice at Ulster University.
